Creating the future of marginal village
“Namiita Labo” is the project which creates the future of marginal village. Setting in 10 households of fishing village, whole village are likened to laboratory.
Referring to fertile community resources and taking outsiders as research workers, they study sustainable desired form of village operation.
They are based in assembly facility with accommodation only for members and make community resources, spaces, facilities and equipment shareable. They are trying to make the village open-source with setting opportunities that outsiders touch on village operation through workshops or tours.
Producing chemical reaction by opening the village
-system and design beyond marginalities-
Namiita Labo is consisted of creative team and local residents in Tokyo and Sendai.
Multiplying desire of residents by expertise of architecture and landscape in team, we tried to make it implemented. More, with involving various kind of people as study workers, it prompt people to participate actively. This opened platform independently from the capital creates the situation that frequency of active projects become linked organically.

Highlighting natural resources
-depopulated village as a laboratory-
 Namiita Labo uses whole village to resemble the research institute, and captures various existing resources and contexts for the researches.
Small beach, Satoyama, regions who born, raised and experienced the disaster. Workshop making use of these and spotlighting unrealized charm focus on learning history and context of village, utilizing it and passing to next generation.

Giving an idea a shape
-civic center as creation base-
Civic center, the core of laboratory, open the village outside and it makes dwell time extended.
Free activities by researchers are supported by the base, which has atelier, dirt floor, 24-hour-available-room and local people knowing how to live with nature constantly.
Not taking in immigrations directly but having opened platform make fans of this area. More, it gives called as limited village possibilities to connect to the next generation.

Expressing the fascination
-design to share the spirits-
The creativities for expressing fascination are narrowed to that are required then. With using ideas coming up initiatively based on research results, that creativities are produced under the supervision of art directors.
